Project Of The Month: TICO

Statistics

I'm a bit of a statistics nerd, so here's some stats from November:

* We added 4944 new projects in November, starting the month with 317315 projects and ending with 322259. That's about 165 new projects a day. Not bad.
* We also added 35101 new users in November, for a total of 3430289
* 39 million visitors made 51 million visits and downloaded 138 million software releases
* Visitors were from all over the world with no single country predominating, but with the USA, Brazil, France, Germany and Italy at the top of the list (in that order) and only a handful of countries (Central African Republic, Western Sahara and Congo) not represented.

I'm delighted to announce that starting a few days ago, we are now doing regular podcasts on the Sourceforge blog. We've started with an interview with Mahmoud Fayed of the 'Programming Without Coding Technology' project (link to http://newsletter.sourceforge.net/ct.html?rtr=on&s=x8pb08,tezf,10s8,b6bm,9zp9,am,hk6o and have several more recorded and currently in editing. These will be recordings in the 10-15 minute range (we'll also be doing a transcript, for those of you who prefer to read) about your projects, and give you an opportunity to talk about what your project is, what it's doing, where it's going in the future, and how people can get involved.

Although the number of women involved in Open Source continues to grow, it's far behind industry averages. A few weeks ago we launched an online survey based on 10 questions, addressed to both men and women, to investigate the evolving attitudes of, and towards, women in Open Source. 25 Fastest growing projects

The 25 fastest-growing projects in the month of November are listed below. We think that this is a more useful list than the "top 25", ranked by downloads. We think this for two reasons. One, these are the projects that we hope to be the top 25 next year. And, two, the top 25 downloaded projects already have plenty of publicity. We like the excitement of seeing what projects are rising to the top.
